Lomachenko vs Crolla: Time: 11 p.m. ET, Location: Staples Center in Los Angeles, Live Stream Online: ESPN+ Tv Channel: Sky Sports.

The card takes place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California on Friday, April 12th.

Lomachenko unified two of the four major titles last December when he bested WBO champion Jose Pedraza by unanimous decision.

The two-time Olympic gold medalist started 2018 by stopping Jorge Linares to capture the WBA strap, and he has visions of becoming an undisputed champ. In the meantime, he has a mandatory challenger to take care of in the form of Crolla.

The native of Manchester, England became world champion in 2015, defended the belt one time, then lost to Jorge Linares twice. He’s built his way back up the rankings and clinched a title shot with a victory over Daud Yordan, his third in a row.

That said, Crolla is nowhere near Lomachenko’s league, and if he does somehow beat Vasiliy, it’d be one of the biggest upsets in boxing history.

This may not be the fight that many fans were hoping to see from Vasiliy Lomachenko in his latest return to action, but legendary promoter Bob Arum put it well when describing the unified lightweight champion and pound-for-pound king to the media this week.

Lomachenko (12-1, 9 KOs), the technical wizard from Ukraine who twice won Olympic gold medals, returns Friday to defend his WBA and WBO titles at the Staples Center in Los Angeles (ESPN+, 11 p.m. ET) to take on Anthony Crolla (34-6-3, 13 KOs), but he’s not the foe Top Rank was hoping to get.

Crolla will need to find a way to slow down the southpaw Lomachenko’s footwork and blinding speed. He refers to Lomachenko as “a very unique fighter” and praises his “exceptional movement and great angles” but still believes he will find a way to “shock the world.”

Simply put: Crolla is a huge underdog for a reason and despite a three-fight win streak which includes a decision over Ricky Burns, this is a style matchup that is all kinds of wrong for him.
