The 29 year-old has only lost once since 2011, to Sullivan Barrera by unanimous decision in 2017. Bivol is yet to lose as a pro, and he also beat Smith’s conqueror Barrera in 2018.

Before the fight, Smith revealed his dream of winning a world title.

“Winning a World title would mean everything to me,” he said.

“It’s everything I have worked towards my whole life. I cannot even express how I will feel when I win this title.”

“Dmitry is a great fighter – very busy and active.

“My plan is to stay just as active and be busier than him, to outwork him. I plan to punch when he punches and make it a great fight.”

Bivol hit back at his opponent, and has revealed his hope of giving fans a good fight.

He said: “I saw in his eyes when I met him, he wanted my belt. And I’m glad, because only that way it can make a good fight.”

”We are both of different styles. When two guys meet in the ring with different styles in boxing, it usually makes a good fight. I think it will be a good fight for boxing fans.”

Maurice Hooker and Mikkel LesPierre will also meet on Saturday as the former looks to defend his WBO Super-Lightweight title with both men protecting unbeaten records.

Callum Johnson and Sean Monaghan will also got to battle, with 12 rounds at Light-Heavyweight.

Johnson lost a light-heavy weight title challenge against Artur Beterbiev in October last year as Monaghan also looks to rebuild his career after two defeats in his last three outings.
